Informal training and workshops

Group of educators participating in a workshop

Community based informal training

As the Centre is the only one of its kind, in Africa, that does training in the use of AAC intervention strategies with people with severe disabilities, training at different schools and institutions are conducted, regularly by request. Once the school makes a formal request for training to the centre, the Centre, in collaboration with the School's staff then does a needs analysis at the particular setting to determine training objectives. These training objectives are formulated to meet the needs of the individual setting. Thereafter 3 to 4 CAAC staff members conduct the training usually over a two to three day period. Three monthly follow-up consultations and training sessions are then conducted in-situ during which the implementation issues within the teaching/training environment are then addressed.
